When He’s More than Larchmont’s UPS Guy

A few years ago, he was there to see the first steps of a customer’s child. And there’s the time when another customer was not home, and knowing an important package would have to be delivered and signed for before close of business on a Friday, he left a note with his cell phone number.

Fernando Remigio has been delivering packages for UPS in Larchmont since 1993, and his pending retirement is reminding residents of the extra step and personal touch he would always take for them.

After 26 years total on the job, he is retiring on August 18.

“Fernando is kind to all and a really special guy.  We actually have a close relationship with him as a family,” says Larchmont resident Elisabeth Cavanagh.

“Fernando came for dinner last night to see my kids. They both run to him whenever he comes to our house, and they think that he has a direct line to Santa.”

“I have relationships with so many people here,” says Remigio. “It makes me feel good, all the things they are saying. I really did the best I could to meet the needs of my customers.”

Remigio may be retiring from UPS, but he will start working at a private business soon near his home in Rockland County.

“Now I won’t have to cross the bridge every day.”

theLoop thanks you Fernando, for your years of service!

Thanks, Fernando, for always being such a cheerful and friendly presence. We moved here in 1994, so you were always our UPS driver, and, when in 2004 I bought a business that called for big packages to be delivered to my home every 3-4 months, you were always there for me! Best of luck with your new business. I’m sure you will do well!

Because so many people asked about organizing a gift for Fernando, I create a GoFundMe site: https://www.gofundme.com/fernando-remigio-retirement-gift

Fernando – I will always remember our conversations from 1999-2000 when you would see me playing ball on the street with my (now) middle son. I was sad when your route changed but happy that you were still in Larchmont. Seeing you in town always brightened my day.

Best to you in the future. You will be missed!

Fernando, Wishing for you and your family all the very best. UPS was lucky to have you represent them. You are the “man.”

It’s great to hear that Larchmont has a great UPS driver. We in Mamaroneck have our own fabulous UPS driver, Anthony Yellen, who is also retiring this month. Anthony has been incredibly helpful in so many ways and will be sorely missed but we wish him well in his retirement.
