Westchester May Fight ‘Puppy Mills’

Westchester County Board of Legislators Vice Chairman Jim Maisano (R, New Rochelle) proposed legislation earlier this month that would ensure that dogs and cats sold by pet “dealers” or “sellers” in Westchester County are maintained in a safe and healthy environment, and stops inhumane “puppy mills” from operating in the County.

Local pet stores would have to show authorities that animals were obtained from reputable sources in an effort to stop the breeding and transport of animals in “puppy mills.”
