Tuesday Night: Impact of Fracking on Westchester

On Tuesday night, from 7:00-9:00 pm, the League of Women Voters of Larchmont/Mamaroneck presents a program called, “Why Natural Gas Drilling in Upstate NY Impacts Westchester County Residents” at the Mamaroneck Public Library.

Hydraulic fracturing (also known as “hydrofracking” or just “fracking”) is the injection of water and chemicals under high pressure into rock formations to extract natural gas.

Local LWV President Elisabeth Radow will discuss taxpayer risks at footing the bill for damage cause by gas companies, and former NYC DEP Commissioner Al Appleton will discuss why our drinking water is at risk due to fracking.

Admission is free.

Go to http://www.amillionfrackingletters.com If Gov. Cuomo gets a million dollars, he will continue the moratorium on drilling. It’s the most important thing you can do right now. Without clean water, there is nothing.

Whether you simply enjoy clean water from the tap, have a country house or college student upstate, the gas drilling in NY State will impact your life, health and finances.

If you’ve never attended a meeting in your life, this event should be the one exception.
