The photographer writes, “It looks so peaceful. But this is low tide on a calm day on the LI Sound in Larchmont NY. The dark water marks on the dock pylons represent the level at normal high tide. The surge, according to one resident I ran into – was 11 feet beyond that high water mark…Truly a terrifying force to be reckoned with.”
