By the time we got out of there, we had a complete poker set, a Chinese painting kit in a silk covered wooden box, two designer blouses, a sweater and two candles shaped like little wedding cakes.
The tab? Less than $20.
This is the secret of the The New Rochelle Humane Society Thrift Shop in a brand-new location in New Rochelle.
Park at a meter across Huguenot St., or in front on Centre and go in even if its just to talk to Donna Dickerson, the new manager, known to legions of Murray Ave. (Larchmont) students as the Playground Lady.
The store is chock a block with the usual thrift store fare, but carefully curated by Dickerson. Donations tend to be of good quality perhaps because clients know the proceeds go to help feed and care for homeless pets at the shelter.
What could be better than shopping for a great cause?
