Thrifty Thursday: Green Eileen (Fisher), Yonkers

It’s genius. It’s fashionable. And it’s cheap.

Green Eileen in Yonkers is an Eileen Fisher store -that opened in March- stocked with professionally cleaned, gently worn Eileen Fisher clothing at, in many cases, below half the original retail prices.

Phillipa Climaco holds a dress that retailed for $278, and was never worn. It's selling for $70.

Quietly gaining a following, a bit out of place in a Central Ave. Strip Mall, Green Eileen is run by the Eileen Fisher Community Foundation. All the proceeds from this clothing go to charities supporting women and girls.

Bring in your old Eileens in any condition and receive a $5 gift card (to use at a retail location).

A special donation drive runs April 20-22 in honor of Earth Day. Donations are accepted here in Yonkers, the Eileen Fisher lab in Irvington (where Eileen Fisher lives), the Nyack Store, Woodbury Common and 166 Fifth Ave., NYC.

And clothes that are too worn to sell? They’re “upcycled.”  Sign up for a workshop to… turn them into a rug or a paper lantern! Boy, these clothes last forever.
