 Libraries are offering ways to get involving right away with Summer Reading—and there are other great ways to start things off right…













The Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce’s Sidewalk Sale continues on Friday and Saturday, with a rain date of Monday. Be sure to come and check out all of the great deals available from local businesses for this special occasion.


Champagne, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served up at the Mamaroneck Artists’ Guild Gallery in Larchmont this Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Art for Animals/Animals in Art, an exhibit benefiting the Pet Rescue and Guild. There will be a live auction and original artwork for purchase for this show running through Saturday. $15 donation.


This Saturday, the Greenburgh Nature Center is hosting Bubbles: A Recipe for Fun, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Kids can learn the science behind how bubbles are made during a fun, interactive program. $6.


Pre-teens ages 10 to 13 are invited to volunteer at the New Rochelle Humane Society this summer with the supervision of a parent or guardian. Teens (14 – 17) can serve as junior volunteers on their own. Fill out volunteer forms and come to the orientations this Saturday: 10 a.m. for pre-teens and their parents and 11:15 a.m. for teens.


There is a Blood Drive at the Damiano Center on Midland Avenue in Rye this Friday from 12 – 6 p.m. Be sure to call ahead to make an appointment in the six-hour period. (914) 967-2535.


Summer Reading Sign-Ups


Kids are invited to the Larchmont Library this Friday from 2:30 – 4:15 for some fancy face painting to kick off the summer. Don’t forget to register for the Summer Reading Game while you’re there.


The Mamaroneck Public Library is unveiling the Set Sail—READ summer reading program this Friday from 6 – 7:30 p.m. for Middle and High School students. This year, teens can connect, share opinions and write reviews of the books they read this summer—all online. Learn how to use the program this Friday while enjoying complimentary snacks.


Enjoy an exciting performance of Rockin’ in the Ocean with Miss Gigi and the Lend-a-Hand Band this Friday at the Scarsdale Library, starting at 2 p.m. Be sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Game right after the show.

Hi, the fireman’s carnival has been at the Harbor and yet I haven’t seen any posting/advertisement of this. There is a parade this evening at 7:00. Perhaps your readers might want to know about this event.
