Update: Mayor McAndrews tells theLoop she has not received a permit application from the building’s owner. She says she expected the paperwork by the end of July.
Larchmont–The long-shuttered Larchmont Store, a prime retail space that until 2007 was a five-and-ten that anchored the Palmer Ave. shopping district for years, may soon have new life.
According to Larchmont Mayor Anne McAndrews, the Village “is waiting for the permit application to be filed,” from a business she did not name, for 1914 Palmer Ave.
“Blueprints have been submitted,” she told theLoop, and the building’s owner is “repairing the sidewalk in front to make room for new (pipe) fittings.”
The space is a prime retail property of 3200 square feet. It became home to Active Sports, which moved from across the street in 2008, but Active Sports quickly succumbed to a slump in the economy.
Isn’t it about time? What do you think?
