Village of Mamaroneck Police say a 15 year old boy was assaulted on Andrew Street in Mamaroneck Wednesday, and the apprehension of suspects temporarily suspended train service.

Officers responded to a 911 call at the upper ramp of the Mamaroneck Train Station (southbound side.) While at the train station, officers determined the assault had occurred on Andrew Street.

As an officer was speaking with the mother of the victim, the officer observed several possible suspects flee the location in multiple directions, some via the northbound train tracks. Metro North was notified to temporarily suspend train service. Town of Mamaroneck Police and Westchester County Aviation Unit both responded to assist.

Police say the victim was walking on Andrew Street when he was approached by a large group (approximately 15 teenagers) unknown to him. The group surrounded the victim, assaulted him and then took his cell phone.  The teen sustained minor injuries.

Several suspects from New Rochelle have been detained and charges are being determined pending further investigation.

That’s right, until all of us are standing in a circle with a 30-round magazine in an AR-15, NONE OF US IS SAFE!

Oh yes, Thomas Jefferson, too bad armed teenagers couldn’t upgrade a mugging into a multiple homicide. Definitely would have been preferable if people could have lost their lives over a cellphone. If only we armed our children every day with fully loaded AR-15s when they went off to preschool and elementary school, then playground disputes could likewise end in bloodshed. It would add such a frisson to the day not knowing if today was the day our children would be murdered or become murderers. That’s the problem these days, not enough guns and bullets and not enough senseless violence. You really hit the nail on the head TJ.

funnyone, if this was your kid beaten by 15 hoodlums over a stupid cell phone, you would give your special kid a bazooka, a machine gun, a Secret Service detail and a squadron of F-18s for air support.

If this 15 year old had an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine, he could have defended himself against 15 attackers. Too bad, NY restricts magazines to only 10 rounds.
