Suspects at Large in Larchmont Crossing Guard Assault

Murray and Colonial Avenues Crosswalk where Crossing Guard was assaulted

Friday evening: Suspects remain at large. Police say neither suspect was the owner of the vehicle. WNBC picks up story.

Mamaroneck Town Police say there are no suspects in the assault of a Larchmont school crossing guard Thursday.

As we reported yesterday, Police confirm the guard, known to children and parents as Alphonso, was crossing children at the corner of Colonial and Murray Avenues after Murray Avenue School dismissal when he became involved in a dispute with two men.

One of the men, says Police Lt. Robert Koziak, struck the guard in the chest with his fist and he fell to the ground. As the men tried to flee in their black Nissan Rogue SUV, with at least one mother attempting to block his car by standing in front of it, they struck the guard in the right leg, say Police.

The guard was treated for minor injuries at Sound Shore Hospital and is not at work today.

Police continue to investigate.

There has to be a reason as to why the guy struck the crossing gaurd?? Maybe the crossing gaurd was out of line? There are 3 sides to every story… Report full stories with all the details from all sides and then let us form an opinion. Please if your going to report anything! I see this happen all to often! Unfair representation, sounds like plain gossip to me!

Would tell the other side if the two guys hadn’t fled from police…after punching the guard to the ground…I’m thinking they don’t want to talk. You?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if they HAD the other person’s side in the 1st place, wouldn’t the title of the article be “Suspects CAUGHT in crossing guard assualt” instead of “at large?”

And wouldn’t the 2-3 people that chimed in as witnesses with videotape sort of eliminate the ‘gossip’ element?

Of course there are always 2 or more sides to every story, but regardless of whether the crossing guard was out of line or not, using violence as a response is simply not okay. It was school dismissal – what kind of message is that sending our children?? I simply cannot come up with anything that would justify adults handling a situation in such an egregious, disrespectful manner.

So the car was stolen? Doesn’t sound like it. Seriously, how hard can it be if you already have the plate and owner?
