It must be almost- the- Holidays. From St. Johns Episcopal Church, Larchmont:
There’s a wonderfully warm sense of community spirit at the St. John’s Christmas Bazaar, amazingly in its 87th year, which will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 10 am to 3 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 4 Fountain Square in Larchmont. You see that spirit in the line of early-bird shoppers well acquainted with the terrific bargains to be had on everything from children’s bikes to antique china, vintage jewelry to sports equipment. You feel it in the air as the volunteers tirelessly sort donated goods, serve a delicious homemade lunch, or mark down a toy’s price even further so a child can buy it. You sense it in the convivial conversations over lunch or the beautiful hand-decorated wreaths and goody-filled baskets to be raffled off to lucky winners.
But the most important element of community spirit is not as immediately visible: It’s the fact that the sole purpose of St. John’s Christmas Bazaar is raise money for the community, and ALL proceeds are donated to a wide variety of local organizations, such as HOPE Food Pantry, Washingtonville Housing Alliance, Boys & Girls Club, Furniture Sharehouse, Hispanic Resource Center, Providence House, Community Counseling Center and At Home on the Sound.
Come get an early start on your holiday shopping, search for vintage treasures, buy raffle tickets for fantastic gift baskets, handmade wreaths and mini trees (raffle tickets are only $5, or 3 for $10), shop for handmade goods, enjoy a delicious hot lunch and scrumptious home-baked treats, and enjoy knowing that your purchases are doing good right here in our Sound Shore communities. It’s a fun event for the whole family—children welcome! Admission is free and the bargains are plentiful!
