Spring Rec Soccer for Teens

The Larchmont Junior Soccer League will begin a spring rec soccer league for both the Boys and Girls Senior Divisions in April.

“The demand for a recreational spring season grew this fall, and as they say, ‘success breeds success’,” said Tom Leissl, the commissioner of the boys’ leagues and referees.

The new spring league needs a minimum of 60 players (at least four teams of 15 players) in both the boys and girls leagues. All Larchmont/Mamaroneck teenagers in grades 9-12 who are not travel or varsity players are eligible to sign up. The sign-up process will begin soon and will follow traditional LJSL online registration process.

Leissl and his colleagues, LJSL President Sid Ings, Head Commissioner Brian Hinchcliffe, Girls’ Commissioner Diane Goodman and Fields Director Jere Dieck, plan on using most of the same referees that participated in the fall season, a mixture of adults and teenagers. The LJSL board is also banking on the necessary turnout of volunteer coaches.
