Did you feel it?  Probably not.

The USGS reports at 8:09 p.m. Monday, a 1.27-magnitude earthquake shook, ever slightly, in Larchmont, Town of Mamaroneck.

It was located near the corner of Rockland Avenue and Hickory Grove Drive.

On Thursday night a 1.1-magnitude earthquake was reported in West Nyack, the first earthquake the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades registered for the region this year.

An earthquake would have to be at least a 2-to-2.5-magnitude earthquake for people to feel it, experts say.

According to Lamont-Doherty, the I-95 corridor is laced with faults within bedrock, typically miles deep, where earthquakes can occur. The region is also home to numerous smaller or deeply buried faults that are unknown to researchers. More information is available at earthquake.usgs.gov.

I live bt Winged Foot and it felt and sounded like a blast that made the entire house vibrate. If we are not supposed to feel a quake under 2.0 then what did we feel? It felt like a tree struck our house and i spoke to many neighbors who felt the same thing.
