Disks Still Washing Up on Beaches?

Back in March, we reported that the white plastic disks washing up on local beaches came from the Mamaroneck sewage treatment plant — and the county cleaned them up. We were among the first to report this, thanks to an observant reader.

Apparently, though, that litter (albeit non-toxic) is still somewhat plentiful in our Long Island Sound. They still show up on Loop area beaches in fairly large quantities and now a  Long Island writer is  polling his readers to see if they are finding them, too.

Let us know whether you’re still spotting them, either close to home or further afield.  Perhaps the ramifications of this spillover — which happened as the results of heavy rains — will go on longer than we thought?
