With a second incident of public lewdness directed at teenaged girls in Rye, police and area school districts are warning parents.
A statement released by Rye Police has been forwarded to parents in Rye and Mamaroneck School Districts.
The first incident occurred on December 5 at Cowles Avenue and Intervale Place when two 13-year old girls were asked for directions by a man stopped in his car, who, reports say, was masturbating.
He was described as a white male in his mid- to late-20s with short dark hair that might have a red tint to it. He also had a five o’clock shadow.
The second incident occurred Monday December 12 in the area of Roosevelt Avenue and Wainwright Street. At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016, two 13 year old girls were asked for directions to Rye Town Park.
According to the statement released by Rye Police, “the victims stated that they were walking on the east side of Roosevelt Avenue when a white car described as a Subaru four door sedan (possibly WRX model) with a distinctive spoiler on the back stopped and called out asking for directions to Rye Town Park.”
The license plate of the car is believed to contain the letter G.
The car is similar to the car that was described in the first incident. Both locations are near Playland Parkway.
“Both girls crossed the street, the statement reads, “approached the driver’s side window and observed the suspect’s penis in his hands. The suspect then asked ‘have you ever seen one of these? Would you like to touch it’?
“The victims immediately backed away from the vehicle saying “NO”. As they were backing away from the vehicle, it sped off south on Roosevelt Avenue, turning west on Beck Avenue heading toward Forest Avenue.”
“The suspect was the only person in the vehicle and was described as a white male in his 20s, short brown hair with freckles and stubbly facial hair as if he roughly shaved earlier. He had a long, thin face and his nose was described as pointy. No obvious scars, marks, tattoos or earrings were observed. The suspect was wearing a navy shirt with an old gray zip up sweatshirt and dark pants, possibly jeans. He appeared clean and the victims described him as speaking very politely to them.”
The victims in each case were able to provide these descriptions.
