Scarsdale Undercover 2.28-3.7

In Scarsdale Undercover, we share some of the more…unusual…police activity that seems to occur only in Scarsdale, New York.

The “real” crimes will continue to appear in our weekly Police Blotter.

BIRD CALL

A local shopkeeper on March 4 called police, reporting a bird stuck inside the Chase Road store. Officers were able to catch the bird, and free it without any harm.

NO TIME TO CHAT

On March 6, a woman asked police to check in on her 80-year-old father, whom she had been attempting to contact all week with no success. Police found the man “home, awake and healthy,” telling police that he had simply been too busy, but would return his daughter’s calls.

GOLDEN GARBAGE

A local store owner on March 3 reported the two gold rings she left on her desk were missing after she stepped away.  Police helped the woman find the rings in the garbage can next to her desk.

OOPS

On March 1, a resident reported her rental car stolen from her Popham Road parking space. While police interviewed the resident, other officers canvassed the area, finding the car on nearby East Parkway, where it was locked, parked and showed no signs of being stolen.

SLEEPYHEAD

A Village Hall employee on March 4 reported a man slumped over the wheel of a van parked in the upper parking lot. The man had fallen asleep while waiting for his wife.
