Extortion via cell phone, stolen briefcase at the Vet and an arrest at Foley’s Hardware.

Extortion/ Blackmail–At approximately 11:50 AM officers responded to report of a kidnapping at CVS/Pharmacy located on East Boston Post Road. An investigation determined that complainant received a cell phone call and text messages threatening harm to her son in another state if she did not wire money to Puerto Rico. The investigation located her son, unharmed, and determined the call to be a hoax/extortion attempt.  3/28/13

Identity Theft–A resident on Althea Lane reported that her credit card had unusual charges of about $1481.85.  3/27/13.

Grand Larceny –A man reported that his briefcase with $2,000 in his wallet was taken from the Village Animal Hospital, located at 6 Weaver Street.  3/28/13,

Criminal Mischief–The side windows of a car were broken into in the parking lot of the Carlton House apartments at 35 North Chatsworth Avenue.  3/29/13

Petit Larceny–An iphone 5 was taken on  Carol Lane, worth $350. 3/29/13

Petit Larceny–A Garmin GPS  worth $500 was stolen from an unoccupied vehicle on March 30th in Larchmont Acres.  3/30/13

Village of Mamaroneck

Burglary–A resident reported that an unknown person entered her residence on Baldwin Place and took several pieces of jewelry. The approximate value of the jewelry was $8,100. The case is still under investigation. 3/26/13

Larceny–Complainant stated that she left her wallet at Shell Gas Station located on East Boston Post Road, and when she went to retrieve it the wallet was gone.  There was $60 cash in the wallet. 3/27/13

Larceny–Gym member reported that someone entered her vehicle and took a gym bag containing sneakers and makeup products at the Equinox parking lot on West Boston Post Road. Approx value that was stolen was $375. 3/28/13

Village of Larchmont

A Mount Vernon man was arrested on 3/20 after he entered Foley’s Hardware on Boston Post Rd., placed merchandise in a bag and exited the establishment without paying.  Gregory McLAINE, 56, was charged with Petit Larceny, arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $2500 bail.
