Pine Brook Residents Blogging in Protest

pine brook park blog

The folks affected by the unannounced construction-equipment-warehousing in Pine Brook Park in Larchmont have started a blog to keep residents up to date on any progress to restore the area to a popular playground.

It’s called Save Pine Brook Park. We think this is a great way to try and hold elected officials accountable.

You may know the Palmer Avenue Streetscape project has been further delayed, leaving residents of the Pine Brook section of Larchmont with an enormous eyesore, and less play area for kids.

The
good residents of Pine Brook are taking the wrong approach to the
debacle created at Pine Brook Park. At the end of the day, we are not
really interested in how the decisions were made to house construction
equipment there, nor are we interested in listening to Mayor McAndrews’
“pet the rabbits” talk about an eventual fabulous playing field. We are
not interested in how many hoops our Board had to jump over to get the
streetscape monies, nor how our Board made an agreement with a less than
desirable construction company in the first place. We really do not
care if the project is stalled or for how long this will be the case. We
do not care that the “promise” to restore the field isn’t even in
writing. We’re not interested in wondering why the construction company
isn’t responsible for procuring a place to house its own equipment,
perhaps even if it costs them money to do so, or why the Board didn’t
make this type of arrangement when it realized it would be creating a
dangerous and unacceptable situation for its constituents. We don’t
even care that the elected Mayor and Board have egregiously shirked
their responsibility to the residents of this neighborhood!
We
really don’t want answers to the many questions that arise from this
very poorly handled situation. We do care that our village might not be
in very good hands right now.
AND WE DEFINITELY KNOW WHAT WE WANT!
WE WANT THE EQUIPMENT OUT OF THE PARK NOW!!!! Figure it out Mayor and
rectify a problem that you and the board have created! We should settle
for nothing less.
