Penn Access Moves Forward to Connect Metro North to Penn Station

“Penn Access” moved a step closer to reality Tuesday with the announcement of a major agreement between the MTA and Amtrak. The project will connect Metro-North’s New Haven line to Penn Station.

The new service will bring Metro-North trains over the Hell Gate Bridge into Queens, where they will merge with the Long Island Rail Road’s route, proceeding through the East River Tunnels into Manhattan and west to Penn Station.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson calls the announcement of great significance to Westchester, and especially New Rochelle, which will have the closest station to Manhattan with direct access to the east and west sides.

Here’s more from the Governor.
