The Picture House is offering three, two-week long intensive courses to its adult education offerings for the winter/spring semester. The Creative Workout Series classes are customized by seasoned film industry professional and provide learning opportunities in screenwriting, acting, and editing for the busy adult student.
Each adult education course takes place over two consecutive weeks; students can choose to enroll in any one or all three of the classes. All Creative Workout sessions take place at The Picture House’s beautifully restored 1921 theater or the new Satellite Film Lab which serves as an education space for students of all ages. Members receive a 10% discount on all education classes.

Screenwriting
Two-week intensive, Fridays, February 6th and February 13th; noon to 2 pm, Cost; $135
Work with a seasoned professional to cultivate your ideas for a screenplay or take your existing work to the next level by developing it into a well-plotted story with three dimensional characters and sharp dialogue. We will also read Academy Award-winning scripts and discuss the how’s and why’s of screenwriting. This course is open to screenwriters of all levels.
Acting
Two-week intensive, Wednesdays, March 18th and March 25th; 10 am – noon
Gain an understanding of how to create characters and approach a script through method acting, improvisation, and learning skills for stage and film. If you have always wanted to act, strengthen your public speaking skills, or need to brush up on your audition skills this class is for you. Come ready to move — this is a physical and creative workout. This course is open to actors of all levels.
Editing in iMovie
Two-week intensive, Wednesdays, April 8th and April 15th; 12:30 pm -2:30 pm
Created for the beginner editor who wants to learn to use iMovie and create movies with their home computer, this course will teach you the ins and outs of this user-friendly software. Turn your family videos into a project you are proud of or edit that movie you have been itching to create. This course is for beginners.
