Just in time for the start of the school year on Sept. 5, new speed zone signs are now on the Boston Post Road around Mamaroneck High School, between the Mamaroneck Town Center and Richbell Road.
20 mile per hour speed zones will now be in effect on school days between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
New “School Crossing Ahead” signs have also been installed on the Boston Post Road near Mamaroneck High School and Hommocks Middle School to alert motorists of kids crossing as they approach the new reduced speed zone area.
“The new signage will provide the necessary traffic calming measures to improve safety for all pedestrians and bicyclists and ensure a safe school environment,” say New York Assemblyman Steve Otis and New York State Senator George Latimer, who had a hand in creating the new traffic measures.
