Rumorville: Eat by the Train or the Sea

Old Mamaroneck Train Station

Longtime Loop area restauranteur Brian MacMenamin is rapidly spicing up our towns with new eateries in a couple of the best locations around.

First, MacMenamin, currently of the Post Road Ale House in New Rochelle,  made summer by the seaside in these parts an option when he opened a seasonal bar and restaurant in Hudson Park.  Complete with a tiki-style thatched roof and evening barbecues, the bar — located so close to the water that it literally laps up to diners during high tide — may just be as close to a beach vacation feel as you can get without leaving New Rochelle’s city limits.

Next on tap is a long-awaited restaurant in the old Mamaroneck train station — a vintage building that’s just screaming to be brought back to life.  Although MacMenamin is keeping details quiet, we hear plans call for both formal and informal dining rooms, and a space for music after dinner hours.

Literally connected to the existing train station, the restaurant — which will  undoubtedly be a boon for commuters or folks who just want to leave their cars at home — is expected to open by the end of the year.
