Monkey Pod Games, those beautiful and confounding wood puzzles and games from the Mamaroneck-based company, are taking their show on the road, and delighting children at Westchester Libraries.
Kids at the Mamaroneck Library this week were invited to try and wrestle Flexishapes (top photo and below) into different kinds of animal shapes, and move the 9 Rings Towers of Hanoi (above) from one tower to another, piece by piece.
Monkey Pod staffers work with the children helping them to understand how to approach a puzzle the first time that you encounter one. And they give supportive advice along the way until the puzzle is solved.
It may seem like only fun (which wouldn’t be bad at all), but these puzzles and games are said to aid strategic thinking, problem solving, and perhaps most importantly, to unite families and friends in conversations the old fashioned way–out from behind a screen or digital device.
Look for Monkey Pod Games at your local library, or visit their Factory Store at 313 Halstead Avenue, Mamaroneck.
