Mamaroneck’s St. Thomas Celebrates 200 Years

A note of congrats to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, at 168 West Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, currently celebrating its Bicentennial.

St. Thomas was incorporated on June 9, 1814, so it’s technically 203. James Madison was President.

“It is profoundly humbling to reflect on the fact that our parish is still relevant and providing a meaningful place of worship and fellowship for this community throughout so many different periods of American history,” said parishioner Pamela Sullivan.

“And even after 200 years we are thriving and continuing to grow with and influx of new families and children.”

Thanks for the shout-out; a correction, however.

The first incorporation was the declaration to form a congregation separate from Christ’s Church, Rye. The legal incorporation, per the laws of New York State, was 1817. It is our true bicentennial this year.
