Mamaroneck Village Camp Counselor Arrested on Sex Assault

VillageMunicipalBuilding2F

A 16-year-old camp counselor at the Village of Mamaroneck Day Camp at Harbor Island Park was arrested and charged Thursday with sexual assault on a female camper.

Police say they received a complaint Wednesday about the alleged assault.

Mamaroneck police and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office investigated the alleged incident and arrested the male camp counselor just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say the 16 year old will be tried as an adult.

First-degree sexual abuse is a felony. No further information was available from police.

Agreed that children’s pictures should not be used. The town should remove any such terms from the release.

But more importantly we as a community need to be vigilant that the young man accused (and having admitted) to/of this heinous crime is held to criminal charges. He is a sociopath and a sexual predator who has irreversibly hurt a young girl and her family. He needs to be incarcerated and forced to register as a sexual predator (since he is just that). We cannot allow this to be another case of “David the Rapist” in MA who as an 18yr old was given only a probation sentencing in the MA court just recently.

If this had involved my daughter, I’d kill that piece of **** who did this crime…

Please remove the picture of the children. My child is one of the boys pictured, no permission was granted to use his image.

Will do. Please be aware the photo is used by the Village of Mamaroneck to promote its camp, with parents’ permission. We chose this photo because the children are unrecognizable.

Thank you for removing the picture.
At no time was permission given to use my child’s image for promotional purposes.
I get that you’re reporting the news, bad taste to use children’s pictures, regardless if you believe they are unrecognizable or not. I had 3 people email me to say they saw my sons picture on your article, that would mean they recognized him.
Once again, thank you for taking it down.

You’re welcome. But you did sign a release with the Village. No worries, it’s down.

There is absolutely no reason why this article should have a photo of kids. We all know it’s implied by camp in the headline-take them down.
