An agreement between the Mamaroneck Board of Education and the Mamaroneck Teachers’ Association (MTA) was ratified by both parties and will be in place for a seven-year period.
It’s been a three year process. Talks started in January 2016, six months before the district’s contract for teachers, teaching assistants and nurses expired. The parties met about 11 times for formal collective bargaining, including with a state-appointed mediator in 2018.
“The District appreciates the hard work and dedication of the negotiating parties in developing a new contract that fairly compensates our highly skilled teachers, is fiscally responsible to our taxpayers and enables the District to continue to provide an extraordinary educational experience for our students,” Superintendent Dr. Robert Shaps said.
