Mamaroneck Hockey Takes Niagara 6-3

Looking to rebound from their recent loss, the Mamaroneck Tigers were looking to return to with a win, and did so in a big way, defeating Niagara 6-3.

After suffering two losses earlier in the week to rivals Scarsdale and Pelham, Mamaroneck needed to finish the week strong, and took out their frustrations on visiting Niagara this past Saturday afternoon. And they did so emphatically.

The offensive onslaught was sudden and rapid. Mamaroneck took an impressive 42 shots on goal, six of which found the back of the net. They were making a personal point, knowing they needed to get back on track, especially since they only took 13 shots on goal just several days before against Pelham.

Mamaroneck sophomore Alex Ewald tallied three assists in the game, while sophomore Connor LeBlanc had one goal and two assists. LeBlanc is one of the bright spots of the team as he leads the team with 11 assists and 14 total points (goals and assists combined).

The Tigers continue to rely on sophomore goaltender Tom Spero to protect the net and he was impressive in this game, blocking 22 of 25 shots on goal. Without his dazzling defense this season, it would be hard to know how the Tigers would stand against their competition.

The most impressive performance of the game went to junior Will Arbo. He finished the game with a hat trick (three goals), igniting the Mamaroneck offense that needed a spark to get moving. Arbo leads the team in goals this season, raising his total to seven once Saturday’s game was complete.

Mamaroneck gets some much needed rest before their next game, which isn’t until Friday night, as they play host to Bronxville/Eastchester/Tuckahoe.

With the win over Niagara, Mamaroneck improves their record to 9-4-1.
