Update: the restaurant is working to re-open Tuesday
On what’s usually one of its busiest weekends of the year, the Mamaroneck Diner closed temporarily on Friday after two customers contacted the restaurant to say they’d been sickened by what the Westchester County Department of Health confirms is a potential Norovirus outbreak.
The popular East Boston Post Road restaurant voluntarily closed temporarily as a precautionary measure. The novovirus is often called a “stomach bug” and is the most contagious food borne illness in the US.

It has recently been brought to our attention that a few people have gotten ill from a common virus in and or around our diner. As we cannot be sure that it has started from inside the diner, we are taking every precaution and care necessary to ensure the health and safety of our diner, employees and patrons. We have voluntarily decided to work under excessive caution in this situation and have closed the diner until this Monday to be 100 percent certain …
I was there last night late, and there were very few customers.
They are lucky to have customers after this unsanitary incident.
The owner actually told me that you can’t stay there after 2 hours, even though the place was almost empty.
I eat slowly, due to a health problem, and am fully aware that when a restaurant is crowded you need to let them move other people in.
But there were about 4 people there.
His arrogance was amazing.

Everything is ok. Different quite salads, terribly healthy and good choices! Best diner I’ve ever been too! Nice food! Nice atmosphere! Absolutely amazing time I spent here.
im sure everything will work out fine. this is very common in all eateries and i am sure the problem will be solved very soon. i have dined there and have made very wonderful acquaintances there. everyone there is very accomadating and friendly. lu reilly
