The father of a child who died after her mother had a well-publicized encounter with police is suing the Village of Mamaroneck, two police officers and Westchester County for negligence.

Steven Boyd accuses them of failing to enforce a court order granting him custody of the toddler just one day before she died.  The tragic incident on Chestnut Avenue April 28 resulted in the death of  2-year-old Gabriella Maria Boyd. Two Village of Mamaroneck police officers were injured by the child’s mother, Cynthia Arce, who was also wounded by police.

Arce is indicted on two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.

She allegedly came at the officers with a knife when they arrived at the home.

The cause of the girl’s death has not been released.
