Mamaroneck Cold Murder Case Subject of TV Show

The unsolved murder in 2007 of Stephen Spina, a well-liked local mail carrier in Mamaroneck, still confounds local police. This week, the show Crime Watch Daily featured the story in the hopes of warming up the cold case.

Police previously theorized that an ex-girlfriend may have been responsible for the slaying, which took place in Spina’s Richbell Road apartment, saying they had identified four persons of interest in the case, three of them former girlfriends.

But no arrests were ever made.

Village of Mamaroneck’s Detective Rich Carroll and the Westchester County D.A.’s office worked with producers of the show which aired on Channel 11.

The case has also been featured on America’s Most Wanted, and has been kept alive by the vigilance of his sister, Christine Foley.

A reward for information leading to an arrest is still offering $40,000, thanks, in part, to an annual softball game organized by Foley each July.

I used to see Steven and his girlfriend all the time. He was my mailman and she was always meeting him near my house. She was usually smiley and friendly. Didn’t appear odd in any way.
