After a 77-64 loss to Scarsdale in the regular season finale, the Mamaroneck Boy’s Basketball team will have no time feel somber. A quick turnaround will see the team head up to Yorktown on Friday night, for a 7pm game, as they hope to keep their season going with a win in the Outbracket.
For anyone unfamiliar with how sectionals works, here’s what you need to know: 16 teams qualify for sectionals; however, with more than 16 teams having qualified, the lowest-seeded teams are forced to play in the Outbracket – a “sectionals before sectionals,” per-se. This year 21 teams qualified, forcing teams seeded as high as 12th to win a game just to get in to the last 16.
The Tigers, seeded 18th out of 21 teams, play at Yorktown, seeded 15th, to decide who will play against Fox Lane (#2 seed) in the First Round this coming Wednesday (2/17).
