Mad Men Also Bidding Westchester Goodbye

Sadly, the Westchester home of Don Draper is really in Pasadena.

Fan of Mad Men? Crushing on Don Draper? LoHud takes a look to see if the show might feature more key Westchester scenes in this, its final season.

We’re hoping.

The Emmy award-winning program alternated between Don’s home life and the ad agency he personified in Manhattan.

Those in the know say the home above, while thousands of miles away, is very close to the look and feel of Ossining in the 1950s and 1960s, as portrayed.

Here’s the real story on the original Westchester lineage of the Mad Men series: on Thursday, May 17, 2007, Matthew Weiner and Jon Hamm stood in the middle of Forest Avenue, the section by New Rochelle High School, preparing to film the signature closing scene of the pilot episode at 90 Forest Avenue, a classically beautiful white clapboard, black shuttered colonial witha bright red front door. As the cameras rolled, Don Draper pulled in the driveway in his late 50s Plymouth after a long day at the office and having bedded his mistress, before returning to his beautiful wife and kids. Clad in his London Fog trench coat, fedora and briefcase, we entered the front red door as the closing credits rolled with Vic Damone belting out his 1958 classic, “On the Street Where You Live.” The word is that the beautiful Mad Men house on the perfectly set of Forest Avenue is going on the market next month… Submitted by an informed and admiring next door neighbor.
