Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Commemoration:
The event will not take place due to the government shutdown 
Saint Paul’s Church National Historic Site, 897 South Columbus Avenue, Mount Vernon – The site will be open 9 AM to 5 PM, with a special talk at 1 PM by Professor Kristopher Burrell of Hostos Community College exploring the civil rights struggles and triumphs of Dr. King.  

 

Anderson’s Bookstore, Larchmont : Help us commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. by creating an “I Have a Dream” bubble and helping us fill our “handprint tree.” All ages welcome. These activities will be ongoing throughout the day, as we listen to Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Terrarium-Making Workshop @ Sheldrake Environmental Center

10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Play with dirt! And gravel, and pebbles, mosses and plants! Create your very own habitat in a container to bring home and enjoy.  For ages 5 through adult. $10 per person. Ticketshere. Drop-ins welcome any time between 10:00 and 11:30 am.

MLK Day at Westchester Children’s Museum, Rye :  Looking for something fun and warm to do on the MLK holiday with the kids? We’re teaming up with our friends from the Greenwich Newcomer’s Club to host an event at the Westchester Children’s Museum on Monday, January 21st from 10-12pm.  Come explore the museum and enjoy coffee and munchkins with fellow LNC members and mix with new friends from Greenwich. The museum is opening early just for us, so it’s sure to be a great time!  Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event ($6 per person and children under 1 are free)
