Larchmont’s Armelle for Kids is Parents’ Choice Approved

Larchmont-based Armelle for Kids announces that its Audio CD “Rock Your World Kids! Vol. 1” has been awarded the “Parents Choice Approved” Seal.

Started in 1978, the Parents’ Choice Awards program is the oldest nonprofit program created to recognize quality children’s media. The Parents Choice Awards program honors the best material for children: books, toys, music, websites, software, videogames, television and storytelling.

French born Larchmont resident Armelle Gloaguen, an educator, singer/songwriter and guitarist, gathers together eleven traditional and four originals that celebrate multiculturalism and diversity. Included are traditional indigenous songs such as the Iroquois chant “Ani Couni,” the mouth harp driven “Epo E Tai Tai E” from New Zealand, and the percussive “Palamina Poyo” from Sierra Leone. From France we hear the lovely acoustic guitars of “Colchiques Dans Les Prés”; the sing-song accordion melody and chicken calls of “Giro Giro Tondo” from Italy, and the bouncy “San To Ki” from Korea. Gloaguen covers well the heroic tale of”Rêve Massaï,” and Jim Kimball’s “Rainwater.” Successful originals include “Native Beat (Native American Theme),” and the rich and charming “Spring Scarf Trail.”

Gloaguen expertly handles the many languages she sings in, and her instrumental backing, particularly the multi-talented multi-instrumentalist Matthew Bauer, is top notch.
