Larchmont’s Ann Taylor store, which has been located at 1919 Palmer Avenue for many years, will close its doors next week, probably on January 23, according to store personnel.
If you’re looking for bargains, merchandise is being liquidated at lower prices.
The building has been bought, and no one we spoke with was aware of what plans are for the large retail space.
Last year, the parent company of Lane Bryant purchased the parent company of Ann Taylor and Loft for $2.16 billion.
The story has been closed for a year now. What are the new owners planning for the space? Our town will all of it’s empty stores will soon have tumbleweeds in the streets. Why can’t our landlords appreciate this and adjust the rents to allow small businesses a chance to establish themselves.
I remember when it opened – and folks lamented that the “chains” were coming to Larchmont and would change it’s character. That didn’t happen….but a lot of the small stores did disappear.
Too bad, I liked that store. I hope the new owners will break up the space into smaller stores. Hard to fill that space with anything other than a big chain store.
