5 Vandenburgh Ave., Larchmont: proposed subdivision in its place

Larchmont–The recent teardown of a 1489 square foot Cape Cod style house (built in 1913) at 169 Rockingstone Avenue, will become a 4522 square foot home.  The lot size is listed at 8,952 Sq Ft.

The developer who acquired 5 Vanderburgh Avenue (between Chatsworth Avenue & Turtle Park) proposes to replace the single house with four, clearing many of the trees, blasting tons of rock, and providing two car access to each.

“We’re all for thoughtful development that will ‘build’ on the quality of living we have here in Larchmont,” writes resident Colleen Dempsey. But she and others question whether these recent plans accomplish that.

Previous applications by Gabriel E. Senor, P.C., for RGF Development Corp.,  for a “four (4) lot subdivision, demolition of the existing single-family residence the construction of  four (4) single-family dwellings at 5 Vanderburgh Avenue were adjourned  at the 12/9/13,  1/6,  3/10,  4/7,  5/5,  6/9, and 7/7/14 meetings.

This will come up again November 10. Dempsey and others are asking residents to voice their thoughts and opinions at the upcoming Larchmont Village Planning Board Meeting  at 8pm in the Court Room of Village Hall.
