According to the Save Pine Brook Park blog, and a message from the Mayor note on the Village of Larchmont website, the long-delayed Palmer Streetscape Project has been suspended due to non-compliance from the contractor.
The Mayor’s message reads, Despite the Village’s commitment… and its concern for timely completion, the Village will not ignore failures to comply with the terms and conditions of the Project. To that end, the Village determined to suspend all field work due to the contractor’s lack of such compliance.
Parking has been re-opened, and all sidewalks are available for pedestrian use.
The Village, its attorneys and its engineers continue to pursue a resolution to insure that the Streetscape Project will be completed properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
Residents of Pine Brook have been very open with their anger over construction equipment being stored on the playground of their small, public park.
They aren’t even planning to bury the electric wires so what’s the point of the project? Seems like a waste of money.
Amputating the tops of the trees lining Palmer Ave. has really added a special ambiance I’d never thought possible.
Why doesn’t this surprise me? There’s no management oversight of anything going on in the village. And, why isn’t the burying of power lines part of this project? Don’t say money!
