A new business in Larchmont is the dream come true for a family from Senegal.

Mama Faye has opened a skincare and makeup boutique in Larchmont called Taaru Majeure.  It features well known high end skin care lines and her own organic skincare line, Taaru Majeure, made from natural oils from Africa and throughout the world.

Taaru means beauty in Wolof, a native language of Senegal, Mama’s home country and Majeure, is French for major.

Mama has many years of experience in the skincare and cosmetic field working for Sisley Paris, Chanel, Lancome and other brands. Her dream was to bring a full-service beauty experience to customers in Larchmont and surrounding Westchester including facials, skincare consultations for all skin tones, makeup sessions for everyday and special occasions, and brow and eyelash services.

Mama’s husband, Amary Seck, is a chemistry teacher at Mamaroneck High School, and the faculty advisor for Students for Senegal, a school club that has been active for over ten years in raising money to support a learning center in Lambaye, Senegal where Mr. Seck attended middle school. Students in the club have the opportunity to travel to Senegal for a cross cultural experience.

The back of the store houses the Galería, a space with beautiful custom-made dresses and skirts from Africa, jackets from India along with beautiful pillows, children’s pajamas, purses, handbags, scarves, jewelry, table linens, and ceramic tabletop items.
