News 12 reports that mail service in Larchmont has received so many complaints, the Postal Service will investigate.
LoHud has also covered the story.
Officials say missing days because of last week’s snowstorm put them behind, but they insist they are taking the complaints seriously.
“We have a top-to-bottom review and we’re going to investigate and see if we can make any necessary changes,” said Deborah Jones, of the United States Postal Service.
Addendum: to add insult to injury, the PO didn’t deliver mail today too! That is now two more days in a row! What is going on?
call deborah jones and ask what they are doing to fix the problem
This is not the just result of the snowstorm, although the Tuesday of the storm, Wednesday and Thursday afterwards, there was also no mail delivery. I have complained of no mail delivery and constant misdelivering of mail, both in person and over the phone numerous (at least 20) times. Just yesterday the mail was again not delivered although I saw the mail truck speed down our street skipping everyone and when I complained, the Post office said they were still out delivering. They never delivered the mail. Often we are notified that they tried to deliver a package and failed though we were home. They simply lie to Amazon and others that they attempted delivery. When I complain, they are usually nice, admit they are screwed up or say people just didn’t show up for work. They have admitted they lie in reporting attempted deliveries because they “have to put something down”. We have had misdelivered financial statements, checks and other letters both addressed to others or ours sent to the wrong address. When I complained to Congressman Engel’s office, they contacted me back saying the Post Office wanted me to fill out a privacy form before dealing with my complaint! Ridiculous, the complaint is they are misdelivering and not delivering the mail to the neighborhood. They are not doing their job. It is a system problem, not an individual problem. Where are you Congressman Engel? This needs to be fixed now! Often I was told stories of ongoing audits and investigations going on to fix.it. This is an old story and so far has merely been a way to dodge doing anything impactful when I have been complaining. This has been going on for months and months. I have not even mentioned that when the mail is delivered it often comes late, after 5-6pm. Help!
What are some of the streets where this is happening?
Park Avenue, Larchmont
The mail delivery service has been in decline for years now. It’s nonsense claiming the recent snowstorm is the cause of these problems. Several years ago we lost our truly remarkable mail carrier. He was given another route and since then our service has been sloppy and sporadic at best. At least once a week I get mail delivered to my house meant for another person. Sometimes on rainy days instead of using the mail slot, the mail is left on a chair on my front porch where it gets soaked by the rain. But worse than all that…..there are days when the mail carrier just doesn’t show up. I know it’s not just me because I’ve checked with my neighbors and they haven’t gotten mail delivery either. Where are our bills, our checks, our medications, oir doctor reports, etc? I’m convinced our mail carrier has a mountain of mail sitting somewhere waiting to be delivered. And if it’s a very cold day, he just doesn’t show up. I called the Larchmont PO to complain and was told if I didn’t like my mail service then I should move. Imagine the audacity to say something like that! Repugnant, disrespectful cretan! This is a total disgrace and the PO employees are disrespecting the jobs they should be grateful to have. They are lazy and think they can get away with anything. They don’t care and that attitude starts at the top with management.
the Larchmont postal service, is not only incompetent, it is corrupt. (and has been for many years). Everyone knows the local postmaster is a fraud, but nothing has ever been done about it.
I sent out several invitations to people in Larchmont two weeks ago, to include one to myself. I still have not received mine; others got theirs yesterday, 11 mail delivery days later, subtracting the one day of the snowstorm. I visited the post office twice, and spoke to the Postmaster once. Everyone disavowed knowing anything about local mail issues. PS Invitations sent to CA , upstate NY and other locations in Westchester all arrived on a timely basis. That would leave me to conclude that we have an inbound, and not outbound problem.
I live on North Chatsworth and have gotten so much mail for the same number house on Mountain Ave. that they come looking for it when they are expecting something. Two weeks ago, we got all the mail for a house on Edgewood, which is blocks away. On several occasions, I have remailed the same misdelivered letter two or three times and it has kept coming back. Twice I have finally put a note on it asking if they would like me to deliver it myself. And despite the Post Office motto which includes “or snow”, when it does snow, forget about getting anything delivered.
