Kevin J. Brosnan (1941-2011)

Kevin J. Brosnan, a lifelong resident of Larchmont, NY, died peacefully on Monday August 8th at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City with his family at his side. He received a liver transplant two years ago and persevered with optimism, humor and hope in his struggle with his illness.Kevin was a 1959 graduate of Stepinac High School and attended Villanova University. After leaving Villanova he enrolled in the Marine Corps PLC program in Quantico, VA and served in the Reserves until 1967. Mr. Brosnan then started a long and productive career in banking. First as a trainee at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co in 1963 and retiring in 2002 as Vice-President of Consumer Lending at Chase Manhattan Bank. He also worked as a development consultant for the city of Yonkers.

He spent many hours of his leisure time taking advantage of the cultural assets of New York City, especially Central Park, where he knew every acre and peaceful retreat to read one of his thousands of books. Mr. Brosnan was an accomplished magician and voluntarily performed for many children’s groups and charities. He was an invaluable member of and advisor to St. Augustine’s parish where he worshipped and served with distinction on many committees.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Flynn, and two children Kevin K. Brosnan, Mary Brosnan (David) and three sisters; Barbara Baisley, Brenda Heffernan and Karen LaGioia. He was a devoted grandfather to Donovan and Emmett Rosenstein, and his many grand nieces and nephews. Mr. Brosnan was predeceased by a sister, Mary Fitzsimmons and his brother, Lorenz Brosnan.

Visiting Friday 3 – 8 pm at The John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. in Larchmont. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 10 am at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
