Want to “pay it forward?” With petals?
Wednesday, October 24 is “Petal it Forward Day,” and one Larchmont florist will be hitting the streets of Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye, handing out hundreds of flowers to help brighten the week.
In the ‘Petal it Forward’ program, a partnership of the Society of American Florists (SAF), The FlowerBar is joining hundreds of florists across the country in a random-acts-of-kindness effort. It is in response to the release of data by SAF showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers.
If you’re lucky enough to be in one of these locations Wednesday, you will get an extra flower bouquet to share with a loved one, coworker or even a stranger.
“We see the positive impact day in and day out when we make our flower deliveries,” said Nancy White of The Flower Bar. “People love to get flowers ‘just because’ so we wanted to create random smiles today, and give people a chance to do the same for someone else.”
The Flower Bar team will be distributing bouquets today (Wednesday) in Larchmont, Mamaroneck & Rye:
- Larchmont – Chatsworth and Palmer Ave: noon – 12:30 p.m.
- Rye – Purchase St. – 1 pm – 1:30 p.m.
- Mamaroneck Train Station – 7 p.m.– 7:30 p.m.
Recipients will get one bouquet to keep, and one to pass on to someone else, such as a friend, family member or passing stranger. It’s first come, first served.
Locally, The Flower Bar is reportedly the only florist participating in the event.
