Help Larchmont’s East Avenue Cafe

east avenue cafe

The East Avenue Cafe in Larchmont is a rare place these days. A small luncheonette with familiar friendly service and a “wall of candy” for the kids.

But owners Gail Shari Wollins and “Dave” aka “Bluto” are struggling. Larchmont resident Brad Garfield is trying to help, with this online fundraising effort. theLoop salutes everyone involved.

As Brad writes on Facebook:

This site was set up by me-a loyal customer for over 16 years. East Avenue has been in Larchmont for 20 years. It has been magnificently run by two people for those 20 years, Gail Shari Wollins and “DAVE” aka “Bluto”. EAC is what small town businesses are all about. Dedicated to serving our community by making great breakfasts and lunches and giving back to all local schools and charitable events… and selling unique candy to all our kids. Now they need our help as the winter, the economy and being on a small side street have added up. Please visit and support East Ave and go here to help Gail keep E.A.C. a special place to visit in Larchmont!

They close at 5PM Monday-Saturday, no wonder they’re going out of business.

I’ve been going there for atleast 20 years! They have seen my kids grow up and always make a fuss over them. Dave and Gail have added to the color of this town and I hope everyone goes out and lends their support one way or another!

Well, I’m personally making a vow: I’m gettin’ breakfast there every day this week, on my way to work. I love this place and they’ve been great to my children. We can’t lose places like this. Seriously. This community will not be the same kind of place if the EAC’s go away. How many of our small local businesses do we have to lose before we wake up? Larchmont is a wonderful little town, let’s keep it that way. Who will meet me for breakfast?

Count? You count for 10. How about 8:00?
