Trinity Retreat, 1 Pryer Manor Road (, Larchmont
You no doubt heard the recent firestorm over the Catholic priest who said victims of sexual abuse by priests were often to blame. A Larchmont priest was at the center of it.
The NY Times reported Rev. Benedict Groeschel said, “Suppose you have a man having a nervous breakdown, and a youngster comes after him. A lot of the cases, the youngster—14, 16, 18—is the seducer.” The Daily News emphasized Father Benedict’s apparent sympathy with former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky. This prompted an apology.
This priest, Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel founded and is Associate Director at the Franciscan Friars Trinity Retreat House in Larchmont, at 1 Pryer Manor Road. ( Someone at the door responded with a simple “No comment.”
Retreat publicity states, “With a capacity for 16 retreatants, Trinity Retreat presents a “homey” atmosphere on the tranquil waters of Larchmont, NY. The picturesque surroundings make the presence of God felt and offer a gentle relief from a busy schedule” for working priests.
Father Benedict is also director of the Office of Spiritual Development of the New York Archdiocese, and a longtime rather quirky Catholic radio and television host.
