Mamaroneck Food Pantry Collection To Feed Record Numbers

With need at a record high, the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force will be collecting food this weekend at local supermarkets.


The Task Force, which runs the local Food Pantry, along with the United Way, will hold its annual “Have a Heart for the Hungry” food drivefrom 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the A & P in Mamaroneck and Trader Joe’s and Stop & Shop in Larchmont.
With steadily rising numbers, the Food Pantry is expecting a record number of local families to turn to the Food Pantry for help thisThanksgiving, leaders said. About 500 families – 50 more families than lastyear – are expected.
More than 650 local families use the Food Pantry on a regular or occasional basis, they said.
Families or individuals, including teens, are needed to help collect, load and sort food collected this weekend. Volunteers should call 698-3553 and leave a message.
