The work ranges from a delicate collage of Mamaroneck Harbor to a raw-silk clutch handbag, from a watercolor of a nectar flame tree to large lush oil painting of deep pinks and blacks. In all, more than 40 students and teachers from the Larchmont Mamaroneck Center for Continuing Education are exhibiting their work in a group show at the Oresman Gallery at the Larchmont Library during the month of February.
The show is called Exploring Creativity: Art from the Students and Faculty of the Larchmont Mamaroneck Center for Continuing Education and it is the first large exhibit the center has put on in more than a decade. It draws from the 10-15 classes in watercolor, oil painting and life drawing and photography that the center offers each semester. The companion Objects of Beauty exhibit in two display cases at library highlights the work done in ceramics, jewelry and textile arts classes.
An opening artists’ reception, open to the public, will be held Saturday Feb. 5 from 2:30 to 4.
As part of the exhibit, the Center will also host a reading at the library highlighting the work from its writing classes. It will take place Thursday Feb 10, 7-8 PM, and is also open to the public.
