Data Privacy & Big Tech

January 21 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

They Know Who You Are!

Mamaroneck Library invites everyone to join a fascinating and timely virtual event

Data Privacy + Big Tech: How Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google Deal with Data
(And What It Means for You)

In this 60 minute online session, Daniel Alaya, Davis Erin Anderson, and Gary Price will review how our world’s largest tech companies view privacy. They will discuss the steps these businesses take to collect your data, share the personal impacts of data collection policies, and give you tips for what you can do to bring back a modicum of control over how your data gets shared. Topics will cover the reasons why we should care about how FAANG, as they’re known, treats our data; the freedoms we may be giving up in order to use these products; and what our data reveals about us.

Our distinguished panelists:

Daniel Ayala Founder, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer at Secratic Strategic Security and Privacy Consulting

Davis Erin Anderson is Assistant Director for Programs and Partnerships at Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO)

Gary Price, MSLIS Co-Founder and Editor, Library Journal’s infoDOCKET, Information Industry Analyst Librarian
