Slateford Creek is a musical duo whose instruments include guitar, banjo, concertina, Irish tin whistle, Irish bodhran (drum), and other shakers and rattles.
Jan and Jeff Ausfahl worked behind the scenes of Broadway and film musicals in New York City. Then they moved to the hills of Pennsylvania. Jeff replaced his fancy jazz guitar with a banjo. Jan stopped using city-slicker words and picked up the washboard and penny whistle. Jeff grew up in Scotland, where he played the snare drum in a local bagpipe band. He studied jazz and classical guitar in the U.S. Jan started her career as a trombonist and later took up the washboard and several folk instruments.
