Don’t Throw Away Old Clothes and Rags- Recycle in Mamaroneck

recycle clothes, textiles

Elle Magazine writes, “According to a new report from the Council for Textile Recycling (CTR), the average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing every year, which equals roughly 191 T-shirts…per person.

Collectively, that’s approximately 3.8 billion pounds of waste. ”

Which leads us to this, from the Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the Environment (CFTE):

The Village of Mamaroneck has launched its new Textiles Recycling Program and is looking for your old, shabby, stained clothes, linens, blankets, rags, towels, curtains and even socks with holes in them, as well as shoes, handbags, belts, gloves, all too grubby to donate to a charity.

Drop them off at the Village of Mamaroneck Textiles Recycling Station located in the parking lot of Toy Box at 300 W. Boston Post Road.

They will be recycled into useful products and also will lower our waste-disposal costs.
