With 100 different species of orchids – and thousands of variations when you break them down even further – Venamy Orchids in Brewster is a feast for any flower lover’s senses, so much so that it would be tough for even the finest botanical gardens to compete.
A greenhouse with aisle after aisle of orchids to browse, the store is drenched in color and spectacular beauty. Orchids run big and small, red and yellow and purple, plain and patterned. They also run the gamut from affordable, starting at $15, to, the way one orchid caretaker puts it, unapproachable.
The flowers are there to buy, rent, grow or simply admire, making Venamy a destination for flower lovers from well beyond the neighborhood.
Still, soaking up gorgeousness of that magnitude works up an appetite. Don’t leave Venemy and Brewster behind without first heading five minutes north on Route 22 to everyone’s favorite spot for road food, the Red Rooster Drive-In.

Lived in Brewster about 35 years, but wasn’t interested in orchids then. I now wish I had at least visited Venemy Orckids.
I grew up in Mamaroneck and LOVE the Emelin saw so many great shows there as a kid and even as an adult. Some great performers play there. And the Village of Mamk has about 35 pan-asian rsuaaertnts (Rick can have chow-fun and you can have sushi) in its two block radius well maybe 4. And then there’s Sal’s which I have to throw in because in my very biased opinion, it has the best pizza in the WORLD. I know your post really wasn’t about food, but man am I hungry now !
