Cool Finds: Miles of Aisles of Wine and Spirits, New Rochelle

True, from the outside, it looks like any cut-rate liquor store, a bastion of Popov and Yellowtail.

But inside, New Rochelle’s new 6500 square foot  Wine and Liquor Discount Warehouse you will find the largest collection of Kosher wines in Westchester County, 600 types of spirits and…a French winemaster.

Owner Stanley Goldshteyn, who had success with a similar venture in Five Towns, Long Island, says he also has the very lowest prices, too. Online shopping is available.

But it’s wine master Andre Cohen that seems a bit of a refined anomaly among the expanses of cases, and rows upon rows of bottles stacked to the ceiling.

Pointing to a very nice bottle of Château Neuf de Pape, Cohen says, “I was picking grapes here when I was ten years old.”

That’s a guy you can talk wine with. (Cohen also teaches wine tasting at Vintage 1891.) You’ll leave with some nice bottles at good process. And maybe some tequila, too.

upon my visit to this mega big box wine store, I found it do be very cluttered, unorganized, & very cold. Lacking any people to talk to with or answer any questions. If you are looking for a Classic Wine & Liquor Store with a knowledgable staff, full service, competitive pricing, and a great selection, visit Mamaroneck Station Wines & Liquors in Mamaroneck. They are a real class act.
